Earlier this week, we were invited to the grand opening of the Bradford District’s largest sensory room. The room is in the Broadway Shopping Centre, offering a quieter space for neurodivergent visitors who might need a break from busier areas.
It is in The Hub, which can be found in between Select and Swarovski, opposite Foot Asylum. If you are heading towards the toilets, you should find the room there.
What’s inside?
The room has a lot of different sensory tools and features that can provide sensory input. They include:
- Mood lighting, where you can choose from a range of colours
- A carpet with a glow-in-the-dark design
- Soft seating, including a sofa and two bean bags
- Padded cushions that can be used as seating
- A hoist
- A board with multiple fidget toys attached
- Ambient background music
- An acoustic bed
- Mirrors
When the sensory room is occupied, there will be a glowing red light around the door. It will be open during the Broadway’s usual opening hours.
